He and his wife Christine adopted two girls, Mackenzie, 17, from China, and Tierney, 14, from Taiwan. He also opened a law firm with his wife, Wedeen & Kavanagh. They have offices in Manhattan and Tenafly, New Jersey.

Kenneth A. Brown, Lambda (Case Western Reserve University) 2005
Welcomed twins on October 16, 2020. During the summer and fall of 2020, he was commissioned to create an anti-racist dance piece for New Vision Dance Company, cast in an anti-racist presentation of short plays by Theater For All People, given directorial duties for a short play for CATCO’s Short Plays For An Anti-racist tomorrow, and wrote and performed via film an original spoken word work “Round 1”. In 2019, he was awarded the “Excellence In Choreography” award by Theatre Roundtable for work on The Color Purple with State of the Arts Productions in Columbus, Ohio.

Alan S. Hackel, Lambda (Case Western Reserve University) 1962
He retired from Auburn University – Montgomery in 2009 and serves on two boards: The Elmore County Humane Shelter and Service Dogs Alabama. He and his wife trained and certified their Borzois as therapy dogs and visit schools and nursing and retirement homes with them. After retirement, he worked for a Singapore company and served as the vice chancellor for Academic Affairs for a proprietary college that he helped start in Montgomery, Alabama.

He received an award from The River Region United Way: The Mathews-Altheimer-Smith award for outstanding service as a member and chair of the Community Council.

He recently won two Emmy Awards as Executive Producer of MLB Network’s MLB Tonight during the 2020 Sports Emmy Awards. These were his 10th and 11th overall Emmy Awards.

He is entering his 55th year in Intellectual Property Law. He has issued his 1000th U.S. Utility Patent that he wrote and prosecuted for clients and has over 15 patents of his own, two of which are in beta-stage trials. He received plaque awards for contributing to the Business Entrepreneurial program at UNLV and the Minnesota Young Inventors. He is also researching the Guinness Book of World Records about the number of Utility Patents that he has written and issued.

He completed his Doctorate in Public Administration from West Chester University in 2016. He was also elected Mayor of Medford Lakes, New Jersey in 2014 and was hired as full-time Borough Manager of Medford Lakes, New Jersey in 2017.

He has two children, Everett and Meredith, and two grandchildren, Erok and Malik. His wife, Flora, was Chrismated into the Holy Orthodox Church last August. He is currently an instructor of History and Geography at Western Piedmont Community College and an adjunct instructor of Geography at Wilkes Community College. He has been a reader/rater for AP USA History for over a decade now.

He is currently working on robotic medical software with Mimic out of Seattle and stockholder. He also earned a doctorate from the University of Central Florida in 2019.

He continues as a Felony Trial Attorney with the Miami Dade Public Defender’s Office. He was recognized by the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Miami Chapter, with the Gregg Wenzel Outstanding Young Lawyer Award for 2019-2020, achieved Board Certification as an Expert in Criminal Trial Law, a distinction held by less than 10% of attorneys in Florida.

He also coached his school’s varsity softball team, head J.V. basketball coach at Centennial High School, and will be an assistant baseball coach at Centennial High School.

He was recently awarded his Ed.D. from Oakland City University (Oakland City, Indiana) in May 2020 and was awarded a post-doc fellowship at the University of Southern California. Brother Feldman was also promoted to Superintendent of Schools at the Bay Area Technology Schools, Oakland, California. He was also appointed to the position of Professor at Oakland City University in their M.A. and EdD programs.

Dennis J. Foreman, Beta Upsilon (Youngstown State University) 1967
He spent 30 years working at IBM (1967-1997). He also taught at Binghamton University from 1984-2020 (part-time 1984-94). He received his Ph.D. in computer science from Binghamton University in 2002 and retired from teaching in 2020. He serves as Executive Trustee and faculty advisor to the ZBT chapter at Binghamton University.

Arthur Varie, Beta Upsilon (Youngstown State University) 1968
He received a new kidney in January 2020 from a 35-year-old man. He has been retired for nine years from Kent State and as a clinical counselor.
